YAMAs voting lines close

The chance for the public to choose their winning artists this year is over as the voting for Yarona FM Music Awards (YAMAS) XXL is now closed.

The public voting contributes to 40% of the overall decision and it is now left to judges to select the winners with their 60% contribution. The youthful radio station opened the voting lines on September 15 and fans have had the chance to vote for their preferred winners.

“It is pleasing to mention that since the voting lines opened on September 15, 2016, we have since seen an encouraging response from the fans,” Yarona FM station manager Kelly Ramputswa said in a press release.

She said at Yarona FM they could not contain their excitement any further because it is only a few days until the award ceremony on December 10.

Ramputswa said when the voting lines were still open they encouraged voters to continue sending in their votes in support of their favourite artists.  “Yarona FM created the annual music award ceremony as a way of contribution towards the development and celebration of local artists. The awards have grown in leaps and bounds and its success over the years has come with the support of key stakeholders that include COSBOTS, BOCRA and the Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Sports and Culture Development,” she said.

Ramputswa said they were delighted that the awards are back for another year and looks forward to a momentous evening which will showcase amazing talent and celebrate the quality of music that has evolved over the years. “It is pleasing to see the

growth and progression in all local acts in our music industry; they need to be reminded that this does not go unnoticed. I think this has been reflected in the choice of nominees this year," she concluded.
