Inflation Quickens To 2.8%

The annual inflation rate in September 2016 was 2.8 percent, a rise of 0.2 of a percentage point on the August 2016 rate of 2.6 percent.

In a statement, Statistics Botswana said the inflation rates for regions between August 2016 and September 2016 shows that cities and towns went up to 2.8 percent from 2.6 percent, urban villages increased to 2.7 percent from 2.6 percent, and rural villages remained unchanged at 2.9 percent.

Group indices were generally stable between August and September 2016, recording changes of less than 1.0 percent, except housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels, which recorded a change of 1.0 percent.
