Capitalising on the hassle that is usually inherent in filing income tax returns (ITRs), two young entrepreneurs have come up with a business that assists individual taxpayers with their tax filings.Named Tax 360, the business helps taxpayers who are caught up in the stress of preparing their taxes and how to file them.

The entrepreneurs, Ofentse Matenge and Boago Victor Ratshoswane, said they register eligible individuals, with a monthly income of P3,000 and above, for taxes on their behalf for P105.00.

“We provide taxpayers with individual tax education, individual tax registration, tax certificates and individual tax assessment preparation and submissions,” he said. He noted that they do this to help taxpayers avoid consequences that arise from evading tax.

In addition, he said, they provide their clients with convenience and help them save time by avoiding long queues, and the back-and-forth trips to the revenue offices due to improper calculations and filling of ITA forms.

Matenge said they came up with the idea after realising that taxpayers spend long hours in long queues at the Botswana Unified Revenue Services (BURS) offices. On tax education, Ratshoswane, who has qualifications on accounting and tax, said they provide easy understanding of individual tax laws, registration process, preparation and compliance.

“This is provided through 30 minutes workshops with a maximum of 20 individuals and video tutorials accessed via our website, ensuring that you are always informed about your taxes,” he said.

He further noted that their

business facilitates taxpayers with the registrations for use of BURS’ electronic services (e-services), “for the convenience of submitting taxes online and avoiding long queues.” The other services that Tax 360 offers, according to Ratshoswane, include preparation of tax certificates forms on behalf of the employer for employees in the case that such is not prepared.

“Our competent tax consultants will prepare your tax assessment on your behalf at the comfort of your place of work.

Furthermore, he said they help clients avoid absenteeism from work due to tax returns. Ratshoswane also indicated that they have collaborated with the community in an effort to create employment for graduates who hold tax and accounting qualifications.

“Sixty percent of the proceeds generated via this service will be shared amongst the tax consultants in form of shared profit per job completed per tax consultant,” he explained.

He said customers can make service requests either via telephone or email. A client registration or service commitment form is sent to a company or organisation’s human resources department.

“Individuals interested in our service register with HR department on the form provided,” Ratshoswane said.
