The Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) is “too busy” to read a letter of complaint from the Botswana Federation of Public Sector Unions (BOFEPUSU) expressing displeasure about government and the party’s alleged interference in the internal affairs of unions and harassment of union leaders.

The letter follows the transfer of BOFEPUSU president Johannes Tshukudu and treasurer general Moses Monnatsie from the teaching professions to different ministries.

BDP secretary general, Botsalo Ntuane said the party had received BOFEPUSU’s letter but had not seen the contents. “For now we are focusing on the Phillip Matante East by-election campaign. With all due respect, we will look at the letter after the by-election,” he said. The by-election will be held on April 23.
