Obscure HAB raises its hand

The relatively obscure Handball Association of Botswana (HAB) has an ambitious plan to introduce the sport across the country. HAB president, Professor Ignatius Onyewadume told Mmegi Sport this week the sport is receiving requests from various schools to run coaching clinics for students.

He said the coaching clinics would be undertaken in various parts of the country with the assistance of Botswana National Sport Commission (BNSC). 

HAB was established in 2011, but was recognised by the BNSC and Botswana National Olympic Committee (BNOC) in 2013.  He said at the moment they have established a centre in Maun. “Handball is an All Africa Games and Olympic sport. We have started working with Botswana Defence Force (BDF) to build teams that would represent the army at the International Military Sports Council (CISM) games,” he said.
