Plight of New Era students

On Wednesday, hopeful students of New Era College gathered anxiously, looking forward to great news from the Education and Skills Development Minister, Unity Dow. With Dow having taken time off her busy schedule (she could have been in Parliament, or attending to other pressing matters in the ministry), the students were confident that they would finally be given an audience. It has been a number of years since New Era College students have been complaining of lack of learning material and structures for some of the courses they enroll in.

More than once, the students were dispersed from the Gaborone streets by the riot police on their way to see the leaders at the Ministry of Education and Skills Development headquarters.
