In an effort to reduce the backlog of applications for plots, the Ministry of Lands and Housing has allocated 30, 155 plots across the country.
A press statement from the ministry, says that the plots were allocated for various uses such as residential, commercial, industrial, agricultural, civic and community.
"Of the 30, 155 plots allocated, 9, 337 plots were allocated to the youth," the ministry says.
The Ngwato Landboard, Central District, which is the largest in the country, received the lion's share of 12, 217 plots allocated by the landboard, followed by the Tawana Landboard
In Tlokweng, which was recently besieged by people working in Gaborone, the landboard has allocated only 33 plots.
Efforts to get comment from the lands ministry on this matter were futile as officers were to be in an all-day meeting.
