As the New Year quickly unfolds, culture oficionados are already gearing up for the first cultural event of the year, Son of the Soil 2016.

This year’s Son of the Soil event will take place at Serokolwane Lawns on the outskirts of Gaborone on January 30. Now in its 12th year, Son of the Soil would be held under the theme ‘Kwa re go yang’ and sub-theme ‘Motswana’.

While the workshop will be held a week before the event, Son of the Soil will officially start on January 29 with the Motswaiso session where patrons will get a chance to sit by the fire and enjoy the best of traditional games and mainane (storytelling).
