High rape cases worry police

Molepolole police have raised concern about the high number of rape cases in Kweneng District. The police officer commanding in the district, Kevin Mookodi, told Mmegi that rape cases in his district were alarming.

“Kweneng District is plagued by a high number of rape incidents,” he said. “The past month alone registered 14 cases of rape. The number might increase because November and December are the months when many criminal activities take place.”

Mookodi said between January and March this year, 70 cases of rape were reported while the months of April-June and July-September registered 51 and 42 rape incidents respectively.
