Hit-and-run driver to appear in court today

A 44-year-old male suspect from Kanye who was arrested in connection with the death of a teenage boy at Phase II traffic light will make his first appearance at Extension 2-Magistrate Court today.

The culprit whose name is being withheld, allegedly struck two boys aged 18 and 19 years with a white Dyna truck and one of the boys died on the spot last Saturday.  The other was still is in hospital at the time of writing. The deceased 19-year-old boy hails from Gootau village in Tswapong.

The suspect was arrested the following day on Sunday afternoon at his home in Bontleng. He was detained at Gaborone West police station and later released.   Assistant Superintendent Edwin Motshosi of Gaborone West police station said they managed to nab the suspect after the matter was broadcast on national radio.
