Nigerian faces P2m fraud charge

A 51-year-old Nigerian man has been remanded in custody in a case in which he faces a charge of swindling P2 million from First National Bank Botswana last year.

Chukwuma Ezekannagha, who has been charged with a single count of obtaining by false pretences, was yesterday denied bail by the High Court following an urgent application by his attorney.

Denying him bail, Justice Michael Mothobi said the application was not an urgent matter and would be dealt with on a normal basis. “The bail application is not an urgent matter and I found no reason to grant the accused bail at this stage,” he said.
