State funds funeral of Dibete accident victims?

MPHO MOKWAPE
It was not known by Friday last week which arm of government gave P52,000 or P7, 500 for each funeral of the seven people from Thamaga and Moshupa who died in a road accident near Dibete last week.

One of the bereaved family members, Emily Dingalo, told The Monitor that the families have been helped with money to bury their loved ones.

“We were not sure where the money came from, but the police were helpful and told us about the money.  It’s a gift that is well-received in this difficult time,” she said. By the time of going to press The Monitor could not establish the source of the money as the Police spokesperson’s number went unanswered after several attempts to

seek clarification. But a grateful Dingalo explained that without the funds, it was going to be an uphill battle to bury all the deceased  from their own pockets.

“It is really sad that we lost our family members at a go, but we had to make sure that all the seven people were buried.

“We are grateful for the monetary assistance that we received. We are even grateful that it came well in time so that we could arrange for burials,” she said.
