Fighters thrash black peril

Mogoditshane fighters players celebrate one of the goals against black peril. PIC KABO MPAETONA
Mogoditshane Fighters collected maximum points on Saturday during the Debswana First Division South League match against Black Peril played in Mogoditshane. After tearing Black Peril apart with 3-0, Daniel Mogapi grabbed a brace with the other goal coming from James Moloi.

Peril started the match like a house on fire and got their first chance in the fifth minute but Badisa Thulre hit the woodwork. Thulare was back again with a header a few minutes later and the shot went over the crossbar.

Fighters fought back and were awarded a set piece a few meters outside the box but they failed to hit the target. Moloi caught Black Peril’s defence napping and found the back of the net in the 15th minute. Gaanosi Mashabane nearly increased the lead but Peril’s defence managed to clear out of danger.

Nonofo Baatweng tried his luck with a long-range shot just before halftime but his effort hit the cross bar. Peril had chances but failed to convert them into goals in the second half.

Mogapi nearly got the second goal for Fighters in 52nd minute but the goalkeeper managed to disturb. He managed to score in the 65th minute as Fighters took a 2-0 lead. The goal seemed to dampen Black Peril players’ spirits and Mogapi scored his

second following a good interchange of passes by Fighters players. Peril made substitutions in an attempt to get back into the game. But the introduction of Keitumetse Baithumi and Tumo Kgosiedirwang did not help much. Kgosiedirwang,  in particular, was sent off for a foul on Kabo Seane after coming on.

Peril coach, Kealeboga Basiamisi, said his charges did not play according to plan. He said they gave their opponents easy goals. He said his players lose concentration and do not take their chances. For his part, Fighters coach, Mpho Mabogo was happy with his team’s performance. He said the win is a motivation ahead of their clash against Jwaneng Galaxy this coming weekend.
