Kgatleng West Member of Parliament (MP) and Botswana Movement for Democracy (BMD) member Gilbert Mangole has revealed that he is having a tough time explaining he is still area MP after some Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) activists told his constituents he has been fired from the position.

Addressing a rally in Mochudi over the weekend, Mangole said some BDP activists have been misinforming his electorate, telling them that by being fired from the BDP he has actually ceased to be an MP because he was elected to parliament on the ballot of the ruling party.

"The truth is that I am still an MP. I was fired from the BDP and not parliament. People should know that I did not run away with their votes, I was just chased from the BDP, but I remain your MP until 2014. Some bitter BDP people are spreading these untruths," he said.
