Raul set to announce Real Madrid departure

Former Spain striker Raul is expected to announce his departure from Real Madrid after 17 seasons at the club.

Reports in Spain suggest the 33-year-old will join German side Schalke on a two-year deal. Real president Florentino Perez and director general Jorge Valdano will appear alongside Raul at a 1200 BST media conference in Madrid. Raul won six Spanish league titles with Real and is Spain's all-time leading scorer with 44 goals in 102 matches. Midfielder Guti, 33, who spent a total of 25 years with Real having come through their youth system, announced he was joining Turkish club Beskitas on Sunday. (BBC)
