The new opposition Botswana Movement for Democracy seems to have scored a first by engaging in an aggressive marketing strategy with the aid of modern technology.

This seems to be working wonders for the new party evidenced in the massive attendance, especially the youth, at the party's inaugural convention at Letlhabile Primary School in Gaborone on Saturday.  Since the announcement of the new party last month, they have been all over social networking sites, especially 'Facebook' where they created a group which continues to rope in members. Even the party's membership application forms have slots where members can fill in their social networking site address, among them Facebook, Twitter, Myspace and Skype. The party is reportedly to be gaining a lot of popularity among overseas-based students and other Batswana as they can easily access information on the new party any time via the Internet.

People outside the country were able to view the progressions of the Saturday convention live on the Internet through Skype.  Even the set-up at the convention used top standard technology, with speakers projected on two big screens that were set on the walls of the fully packed hall.

Each of the 10 beautiful young women had supporters...
