Magistrate irate over 'rotting' cases

FRANCISTOWN: Francistown Acting Chief Magistrate, Lorraine Makati-Lesang, has queried cases that have been before court for a long time but have not been tried.

The date of trial for the matter was set for February 2008.
"Why February 2008? This matter first came to the courts in February 2003 and it's going to be tried next year?" she asked.

 
The incident that gave rise to the case happened in Xhamkhwane cattle post on September 30, 2000. The accused, Phukie Bokowe, a farmer, is said to have threatened to kill Brian William Bridges by pointing a rifle at him and uttering the words, ' I will shoot and kill you'.
