The Botswana Defence Force (BDF) commander, Major General Gaolathe Galebotswe, skipped the graduation ceremony of a new group of privates on Thursday, as they were unveiled after a six months training programme at the Sir Seretse Khama Barracks.

It is the first time that the newly graduating privates were not welcomed by the minister and the commander. There was not a single cabinet minister at the ceremony.
