Botswana's biggest mobile phone operator, Mascom Wireless, has selected Russian firm Bercut to supply its Ring Back Tone solution.
According to results of a tender for the supply of a Ring Back Tone (RBT) solution announced by Mascom, Bercut's X-tones was chosen as a solution to meet Mascom's requirements and provide a service to ensure stable and increased revenues,"
Mascom CEO, Jose Vieira Couceiro, says in a statement.
"We have chosen Bercut X-tones for several reasons. We took into account the high service level promised by Bercut, which was proved by the references received from European telecommunications holding companies."
The statement says Mascom also chose the company because it has a branch office in neighbouring South Africa.
In addition, Mascom considered that Bercut aims at maximising its revenue from this service and to provide an end-to-end solution that includes marketing and consulting
"Bercut's expertise in the area of VAS is versatile and can provide the services that boost ARPU growth in any region of the world, which is proved by successful projects in Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Africa," says Sales Development Director at Bercut, Evgeniy Zubakov.
X-tones is a personalised entertainment service that allows mobile subscribers to replace the standard Ring Back Tone (RBT) with melodies or voice messages for incoming and outgoing calls.
The estimated additional revenue to be generated annually by the solution is $1.33 per subscriber.
Bercut has carried out 19 installations of X-tones for RBT serving more than 70 million subscribers in nine countries around the world.
