Govt drives uptake of science and technology

The Ministry of Infrastructure Science and Technology (MIST) through the Department of Research Science and Technology has declared August as a Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) Month.

This development follows the SADC agreement that resolved that its members should commemorate STI after they observed that awareness in science and technology across the region was low and had resulted with investment in research and development being neglected.

It is estimated that science and technology accounts for one percent of the GDP in developing countries compared to three percent for developed countries.
