Well Done Young Zebras

The win against the Angolans comes in the wake of another celebrated draw against fancied Tunisia in the Beijing Olympic qualifiers. A most important fact of the draw was that it was an away game in North Africa where many countries have been slaughtered in soccer. The Young Zebras have a good chance of proceeding to the next round of both qualifiers. They host the Tunisians in a match that they have no excuse of even drawing. The simple task at hand is just to beat the Tunisians by whatever margin to proceed to the next round. In less than two weeks, the Young Zebras will be in Angola with a comfortable margin 2-0 margin. So long as they limit the damage from the Angolans in the second leg, they will sail through to the next round.

These Zebras have abundant talent and if they are nurtured properly, they can drive the senior national team to greater success. Many of them play competitive football in Premier League clubs with others plying their trade outside the country. The star attraction on Saturday was little known Moreetsi Mosimanyana. The Orapa Wanderers' man stood his ground in defence and took no prisoners. Within no time, he won the hearts of many Zebras' supporters who thronged the National Stadium. There is a high possibility that Wanderers may lose him to one of the big guns in the Premier League after he posted such a good performance. South African-based Phenyo Mongala came in and changed the complexion of the game. His stint as a professional in South Africa seem to have paid dividends.

The technical team needs to be applauded for the good work. It takes a good coach to successfully utilise talent at his disposal. Well done guys and keep it up. There is potential in the team and you can achieve what has not been done in the past. You have a chance of making sure Botswana qualifies for the All Africa Games as well as the Olympic Games for the first time. If you do, you will have made history.
