He said all eyes will now be on him and so he must perform. He has assumed office at a time when regional boxing is faced with many problems.

Moroka was elected Zone VI boxing president at a meeting in South Africa recently. He is a former vice president of regional boxing. He said it is through hard work and commitment that he was been elevated to the top post. He is the first Motswana to officiate at the Olympic Games.

He has officiated at the All Africa Games (AAG) and the Commonwealth Games.
Moroka said that Zone VI boxing is not doing well and the problem needs to be addressed urgently.

He believes that the region has talented boxers who are only hindered by poor preparations. His priority is to train umpires and coaches as most boxing officials do not

have international qualifications. He believes that his position will benefit Botswana, as he will be dealing directly with international boxing bodies. Under his reign, he wants Zone VI to win a gold medal at the 2012 Olympic Games.

He said that to achieve this historic Olympic feat, the region needs to start preparing early and give boxers international exposure. He said on average Botswana boxers are doing well with good support from the Botswana National Sports Council (BNSC).

Botswana Boxing Association (BoBA) spokesperson Willough Kemoen said they are happy that Moroka now leads regional boxing. He said Moroka's achievement is a milestone and shows that Botswana is recognised in sport.

He believes the new boxing boss will not have too many problems in executing his duties since he has been in the regional committee as vice president.
