Botswana Cricket Association (BCA) is likely to cut down its development programme next year due to lack of playing facilities. Botswana has only two cricket fields.

Ramakrishna said that this year, they added schools from Ramotswa, Pilane and Kanye for the first time. He said they are planning to introduce cricket to teachers and students of the newly recruited schools early next week. "This is the orientation stage where we find out if the targeted schools are prepared to introduce cricket as a sport in their schools.
Next we will equip both the teachers and students with skills. The final stage is that of competition and this is where the schools will use the skills they have acquired," he said.
This will however be determined by the effort teachers exert and the administration of the game. "If both or one party cannot fully participate or are not fully welcoming the development, then BCA will have to pull out from the school," he explained.
Ramakrishna said they are confident about some of the new schools in the programme because they have been in contact with cricket before. Recently, Cricket Without Boundaries (CWB), a British charity organisation visited Ramotswa and drilled over 150 pupils in one single day. "We hope that these schools will participate in the annual development league next year," Ramakrishna said.
He stated that they are trying to extend the game to new places away from Gaborone and its environs with the objective to cover the whole country but lack of playing fields is a major hindrance. "We notified the Botswana National Sports Council (BNSC) about this issue about a year ago but nothing has been done up to today," he said. He does not understand why it is taking long for the BNSC to respond to their plea especially since the BCA only need land to execute its plans. "Our manpower and resources are in place and all we need is a platform to showcase what we have to offer," he said.
