Two goal-hero Keoagetse 'Barnes' Radipotsane was the toast of the night as he rescued a point for Notwane with an injury time equaliser. Chiefs got their goals through Dirang Moloi and substitute, Keaketswe 'Mara' Moloi. Winless Notwane started the match on the ascendancy, keeping their fancied opponents at bay.
Chiefs' goalkeeper, Mompoloki 'Wrist' Sephekolo made the first real save of the game in the 17th minute when he dived low to block Odirile Kgaodi's attempted chip following a strong run on the left by impressive, Galabgwe Moyana.
Action swung to the other end and Dirang blasted his effort into the stands when he should have done better. Pako Moloi should have put Notwane ahead but he shot wide with the goal at his mercy in the 25th minute. Toronto continued to enjoy the early exchanges but were pegged back when Dirang found the opener 10 minutes from the break. He completed a sweeping move down the right with a well-placed shot beyond Notwane goalkeeper, Botlhe Moralo. The goal unsettled Toronto as Chiefs took charge of the proceedings and dominated the midfield. Moyana could have equalised for Notwane but he thumped his shot high in first half injury time. The score was 1-0 at the break.
Notwane's Ghanaian coach Ernest Kofi sent on Langson Sichola and Kaelo Mashiakgomo in place of Pako and Tumisang Mothibapodi early in the second half. But the change did not alter the complexion of the game as Chiefs kept up the pressure. Chiefs' Zambian Musonda Mweuka did poorly in the 66th minute when he ballooned his effort over the cross bar when clear on goal.
Notwane were playing too deep at this stage as Magosi closed spaces in midfield.Sekhana 'Nandos' Koko missed a sitter in the 70th minute after being played through. Chiefs were hit against the run of play when Moyana's inch perfect cross found the head of Radipotsane who finished with aplomb in the 71st minute to level matters.
Immediately after, Chiefs lost Koko through a foot injury he sustained after he miscued a shot. He was replaced by Keaketswe whose first contribution to the game was a scooped effort, which went over the bar from just a metre of the Notwane goal. He was adjudged offside.
Moralo made a crucial block when he dived low to block Dirang's intended cross into the box as the Chief's players moved in for the kill. Moments later, Moralo tipped the ball over the bar as Chiefs sought the winner.
There was drama four minutes from time when the referee, awarded Chiefs a controversial penalty after Dirang seemingly took a dive in the box. Notwane players took a dig at the referee resulting in Moralo receiving a yellow card.
It was poetic justice for Toronto when Tshepo 'Talk Talk' Motlhabankwe dragged his spot kick wide of Moralo's goal. There was another twist to the game when Keaketswe scored an absolute stunner, with just a minute on the clock. Keaketswe attacked the Notwane goal from the right, and as the defenders back-pedalled, he unleashed a thunderbolt from an acute angle, which beat Moralo hands down. With the fourth official signalling three additional minutes, more drama followed. Sephekolo tipped Moyana's effort against the cross bar before the ball went out for a corner deep into injury time as a nervous Chiefs tried to hold out. Then Radipotsane propped up with a sensational last minute equaliser to send Notwane supporters into raptures and silence a stunned but previously boisterous Chiefs' crowd. Kofi, while happy with the point and the display of his charges, was not amused with the officiating.
His counterpart at Chiefs, Wesley Mondo admitted that Notwane played well. "It was a good game which could have gone either way although we could have wrapped the game early in the second half but missed chances," Mondo said. The draw is a morale booster for troubled Notwane, while for Chiefs it was two precious points lost as they try to stay within touching distance of log leaders, Township Rollers who played BDF XI yesterday.
