"This is to ensure that we do not give the certificate to people who can pass theory but fail to deliver practically," he said.
Teachers from various private schools including John Mackenzie, TKM College and Francistown clubs undertook the examination. Jog said they targeted private schools because teachers already have basic knowledge of cricket.
"We believe that these are the very people responsible for developing secondary school children into well groomed club players," he said. Jog said they targeted club players in order to improve their existing knowledge of the game.
Meanwhile, BCA development coach, Clement Chipanga will move to the north to start a cricket development programme for primary schools. He will be based in Francistown where he is expected to carry out orientation courses for teachers and pupils.
Jog said Chipanga's relocation is a good move as cricket development will spread to the north, as per the BCA plans. He said Chipanga's relocation has stirred excitement among teachers who are eagerly waiting for his arrival. Five schools have been selected to pilot the BCA projects in the region. Jog said they want to increase the number. "We try and encourage parents and schools to join us in our quest to speed up the development of cricket in Botswana," he said.
