His portraits of first president, Seretse Khama were among his favourites, according to colleagues at the Department of Information. He probably counted among the first president's preferred photographers, if not his favourite. His exceptional work occupied a space at the first ever Debswana sponsored photographic exhibition put up by the Botswana Journalists Association in the 1990s at the Gaborone Sun.
It would have been a miracle if one of his works did not take first prize. Chomie worked in almost all the private newspaper newsrooms as a free-lance photographer after he left the Department of information.
