Culture Spears frontman Kabelo Mogwe said in an interview in Gaborone yesterday that normally a best selling DVD in Botswana  would have close to 2, 000 copies. He says that they were happily surprised to discover that despite the prevailing world economic recession, their new DVD, Khudu, has seen 5, 000 copies wiped off the shelves in two months.

He said that when they released the DVD, they cut 20, 000 copies and put 15, 000 copies on the South African market and the remaining 5,000 in Botswana, which have been gobbled up."I think even the idea of the hologram, where a musical product is supposed to have a hologram mark, has helped us quite a lot. It means that no one can pirate the DVD and sell it as it has been happening in the past. I would like to thank government and other proponents of the hologram because they had our best interest at heart when they mooted the idea," he said.

In an effort to market the DVD to the public, he said the group would go on a countrywide tour and perform in places like "Francistown next Friday at BOCCIM hall, Palapye Community Hall on Saturday.

"On the April, 30, we will be at Maun's Trekkers Nite Club and then return to Gaborone on May 2 at Zebra Club. We will also feature artists like Biza Mupulu, Slyzer and Mantshwabise," he said. He said that all their shows, except for the Palapye one, would be starting in the afternoon to cater for students who are still on Easter break.
