The traditional music troupe, who recently received a presidential award, are launching their funky website, www.culturespears.biz, as well as their world class studio, Kulenyane Studios, and two albums by affiliated musicians. The albums include the Ekentolo concept kick started two years ago. The concept is built around hits and sounds of yester year, especially the sounds of the 70s and 60s township music in South Africa, which had profound influence in the lives of Batswana.

The other album is by a popular kwaito group, Mantshwabisi, whose claim to fame came after the male duo composed a song about Nissan 4x4, popular as Mantshwabisi amongst the vehicle brand's fans in Botswana.

Kabelo Mogwe of Culture Spears says they decided to resurrect the career of Mantshwabisi after the duo approached them for assistance last year. "We are hoping that we can assist them just as we managed to launch the music career for Slizer, who is now a star of note," Mogwe said yesterday in an interview.

Culture Spears will be doing the marketing and distribution of Mantshwabisi's album, including shows in South Africa where the traditional group's presence is already enormous.

Meanwhile, Mogwe has told Showbiz that his latest Ekentolo music project is selling like fat cakes. ' You can confirm with the hologram's office, we are going back to them more frequently for more orders, people just love this project," Mogwe said.

He also said he has decided to duplicate the album copies locally and not in South Africa, in order to boost the local music industry, which he said is doing well, and need local musicians' support to grow.

Culture Spears have opened a new recording studio, which will also be launched at the same time with three other products. The studio, located at the new Culture Spears' home in Mogoditshane, has already recorded seven albums since it opened its doors, according to Mogwe, who described the idea of coming up with the studio as an investment on their part.

Interestingly, Culture Spears hired the man who produced and engineered all their three hit albums, Joe Maseko from Bulawayo, who is now based at the Culture Spears' home, handling recordings. Both Ekentolo and Mantshwabisi albums were recorded at the same studios, according to Mogwe.
