A market analyst at the Botswana Tourism Board (BTB) Condril Busang said there are indirect tourism opportunities such as craft production, sale of natural products and supply of produce such as vegetables and meat.

He said the market of tourism is very broad, and one could venture into agro-tourism. Busang was explaining to women at a leadership conference held at the Gaborone International Convention Centre (GICC) on Friday on opportunities in tourism and what Batswana could offer the world in 2010.

He also noted that there will be a demand for accommodation facilities in Botswana. Busang also said they will be opportunities for the transport sector, with a need for luxurious transport and cars for hire.

Other opportunities he mentioned were of public camping grounds, luxurious camps, lodges, tented safari camps, hotels, traditional villages and guesthouses.

He said mobile operators in the north of the country could provide mokoro trips, boat cruises, game drives and guide services.

Busang Botswana is a fairly safe country and this security is an added advantage. The growing tourist numbers will require good infrastructure such as an international airport, high quality playing fields and high quality medical facilities.

A Motswana woman staying in Australia, Mmaskepe Sejoe, said she was interested in the conference to see what avenues were available to women supporting each other. Sejoe is a member of Soroptimist International.
