SELEBI-PHIKWE: Former TAFIC coach, Willard Mashinkila-Khumalo is expected to take charge of misfiring Nico United this weekend after getting his work and residence permits.

Mashinkila-Khumalo was hired recently with goalkeeper coach Baboloki Blue Same after the sacking of Paul Gundani and Peter Muchina. The club has lost all its be MOBILE Premier League this year. Nico chairman, Etlhomilwe Raditshego told Mmegi Sport that Mashinkila-Khumalo was not on the bench last weekend because his papers were not ready but now they have sorted everything out. He explained that the processing of the papers was easy because it was just changing club names from TAFIC to Nico. Majombolo have signed a three-year contract with the coach renewable annually. Some supporters have complained that the management was not fair in sacking Muchina who has been loyal to the club for a long time.

Under the coach, Nico started the season well and led the standings for sometime before a disastrous slump saw them slide to the lower reaches of the log. The struggling Selebi-Phikwe side is currently languishing in the ninth spot. Raditshego said Muchina and Gundani were fired in the interest of the club after consultations with different stakeholders. He is aware that people will talk about the matter though they do not know what is happening. Tomorrow, Nico host another struggling side, Killer Giants in Selebi-Phikwe. "When we start winning, it is going to be consistent and we want to finish the season in the top eight," Raditshego said. He stated that the management does not want to put the coach under pressure, though the aim is to finish in the top eight. He said the dream is achievable with the positive attitude that the coach and the players have shown. He said that just like any organisation, Majombolo has been going through a rough patch and the situation is now normal. He added that people must stand up to challenges and make sure that the club does not sink. Raditshego dismissed allegations that some players were not paid their dues. He said they are paying their players well and there are no complaints.
