Chiefs seek to close gap

Mochudi Centre Chiefs face another stern test when they visit unpredictable Nico United at the Selebi-Phikwe Stadium tomorrow. Chiefs are sitting on third spot and a win will reduce the gap between them and second-placed BDF XI to four points.

BDF XI will rest this weekend after their much-awaited date with Township Rollers was postponed due to unforeseen circumstances. Chiefs are chasing their first league title and a loss to Nico this weekend will be disastrous. It might end their title ambitions. Chiefs go into the game as favourites especially after outclassing stubborn Uniao Flamengo Santos 3-0 last Friday night.
After the win, everyone close to Magosi will be hoping that the team continues the good run while Jwaneng Comets beat log leaders, ECCO City Greens at the Galaxy Stadium. As things stand, ECCO and BDF XI remain the main stumbling blocks to Chiefs' title dreams.
Chiefs' captain Noah 'Stooge' Kareng told Mmegi Sport yesterday that their mission is to take each game as it comes. He asserted that it would be suicidal for players to approach games with ECCO and BDF XI in their minds. "We're done with those teams and there is no use to concentrate on them. We've to win our games and see what happens," he said. Kareng told Mmegi Sport that their aim is to collect maximum points against Nico. He said the return of striker Jerome Ramatlhakwana will boost their attack though it is not certain whether the coach will field him. Ramatlhakwana returned to Chiefs' camp this week after spending sometime in Cyprus attending trials. His contribution to Magosi's achievements this season has been immense and the coach might be tempted to drop Kekaetswe Moloi to the bench. Once again, nippy striker Pontsho Moloi, Othusitse 'Jabu' Pilane and Aaron Kale will lead Chiefs' challenge for maximum points.
Though they are capable of beating any team on their day, Nico have been disadvantaged by the infighting among officials.
Though all is not well in the Majombolo camp, they have promised to give Magosi a run for their money. Currently, Nico are sitting on the 13th spot with 25 points. They might find themselves campaigning in the First Division if they do not overhaul their act. Captain Eric Molebatsi agrees that they have to work hard in the remaining four games to stay in the Premier League. "We've a good team but we lack the hunger which was there last season. In order to keep our management and supporters happy, we've to win the remaining games," he told Mmegi Sport. Nico's fate might be complicated if TASC beat defending champions Police XI in Francistown on Sunday.
Though they will be without influential midfielder Monametsi 'Sunday' Kelebale, Majombolo have the likes of goalkeeper Chrispen Nyamutamba, Molebatsi, Kebatlogetse Batsweletse and Jotham Marufo who are capable of dashing Chiefs' title ambitions. Kick off is 3.30pm.

Congratulations Anicia Gaothuse!

The contest had 10 beautiful young girls as finalists and unfortunately only one could wear the crown. The judges picked Anicia Gaothuse. To all those who feel their contestant should have won ahead of Anicia for whatever reason, hardly; the judges found Anicia to be the best among the best, so desist from disrespecting our newly crowned queen on social media or anywhere else, for that matter! Each of the 10 beautiful young women had supporters...
