A few months ago Khama met with Kweneng royals who expressed concern at the state of affairs in the region. The installation of the investigating team is a result of the meeting.
Bakwena deputy Paramount Chief Keineetse Sebele confirmed the meeting to Mmegi in an interview yesterday."We as the royal family led by Kgosi Kgari Sechele, did approach the President on this matter. We indicated to him that we were worried about the state of disunity in our region and we wanted him to help us deal with this state of affairs," he explained.
The probe team has been in the Bakwena and Kweneng capital, Molepolole meeting with various community leaders in the last week. On Monday last week, the team met with Paramount Chief Kgari Sechele and his deputies. On Wednesday, the team met with all dikgosana from the region. On Thursday it met the MP from the region.
Those who attended the meeting were Daniel Kwelagobe (Molepolole South), Gaotlhaetse Matlhabaphiri (Molepolole North), Patrick Masimolole (Mogoditshane), Moeng Pheto (Lentsweletau) and Liakat Kably (Letlhakeng East). When contacted by Mmegi, Kwelagobe neither confirmed nor denied meeting with the team.
Meanwhile the team is set to hold a Kgotla meeting in Molepolole today at 9am to gather the views of the residents.
