BDP central committee divided over Barata-Phathi?

The Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) might not have agreed on the ultimatum for Barata-Phathi members to hand over their membership cards within 48 hours, an inside source has said.

"At least I can tell you that the committee was not agreed on the decision, as some felt it was better to pursue peace and that a decision like that would cause the party even bigger problems," the source said. When contacted, party chairman Daniel Kwelagobe would neither deny nor confirm if the central committee made the decision unanimously. "I cannot tell what we discussed in the central committee as we all have collective responsibility," he said.

BDP executive secretary, Comma Serema was categorical that the decision was taken unanimously. "This was a decision of the central committee," he said. BDP lawyer Parks Tafa said the decision was not made by one man but was unanimous.
