He was aged 78 years.

His daughter Tumeletso Makwati said the veteran politician passed away on Friday at his cattle post.

Menyatso worked with the late BNF leader, Dr Kenneth Koma during the formative years of the party.

BNF publicity secretary, Moeti Mohwasa described his death as a great loss to local politics.   "His death is a serious loss," said the BNF spokesman.  He said Menyatso was one of the people who shaped the country's political landscape.  Mohwasa said Menyatso was one of the politicians who ushered in revolutionary politics to the country.

The BNF official said Menyatso was always advocating for change.  He said Menyatso made an enormous contribution to the BNF growth.

He recalled that Menyatso and other activities like James Olesitse used to publish a socialist newsletter, which was known as the Clarion Call.

Even though he was no longer activists in politics, Menyatso was regarded as a BNF elder.

The president of the Botswana Congress Party (BCP), Gilson Saleshando said Menyatso made an immense contribution to the country's politics.  He said Menyatso joined the BNF from the Botswana Independence Party (BIP).

Even at the BIP, Saleshando said Menyatso was a foot soldier who used to travel to remote places like Shorobe in the North West District.

He said Menyatso continued to work hard when he joined the BNF, adding that he was committed to the struggle.
Saleshando who is also a former BNF member, said Senyatso was one of the people who contributed to the growth of that party.

He used to work with Menyatso when they were in the BNF.  At times he would sleep overnight at Senyatso's house in Mahalapye when they were doing party business.

Former BIP leader, Motsamai Mpho expressed shock at Menyatso's death.   Mpho described Menyatso as resourceful when he was the BIP youth leader.   He represented the party as a youth leader at various international fora.   Mpho said Menyatso used to touch all corners of the country when he was BIP youth leader and went to far-off places like Seronga.

He said Menyatso used to maintain a good working relationship with other party members.   "He was diplomatic and knew how to work with other people."  To him, Menyatso was a respectable politician.  He was a man of the people.

Mpho described Menyatso as an orator and a good writer.  He knew how to address his audience and always came prepared. Mpho said the late Koma once apologised for poaching Menyatso from the BIP.  He said Menyatso and Klass Motshidisi who was recruited by the BNF, were the cream of the BIP. "We have lost a great leader.  We will always remember him," said Mpho.  To him, Menyatso was somebody who was committed to the struggle.

Senyatso who was born in 1932, studied in Russia.  He is survived by his wife, sister and nine children.  Family members say funeral arrangements have not been made.
