FRANCISTOWN: A manager at Tati Nickel Mining Company (TNMC) is before the courts after allegedly insulting the President of Botswana.

It is alleged that on September 16 the accused, when talking to an employee at the mine said that, "I do not care if it is the f***ng president of Botswana coming" and those few words earned him a charge of uttering words with intent to ridicule the President of Botswana.
Officer Commanding Senior Superintendent Alakanani Makobo confirmed that they had arrested the mine boss. "I can confirm that on September 17 we arrested one of the mine managers at the mine," he said.
He said that they nabbed the man because there was a report that he had uttered words in contempt of the President.
Makobo further said that if found guilty, the accused might have to pay a fine of about P500.
"The maximum cannot exceed P500 if he is found guilty," he said.
Gerber was given bail.
