According to an eye-witness account, four men driving in a Toyota Corolla were suddenly blocked by a Mitsubishi Pajero in front of a Wesbank office in Block 3. Security agents allegedly jumped out of the Pajero station wagon and fired into the men's sedan through the window on the driver's side, wounding him seriously.
When the Mmegi team arrived on the scene, a crowd of onlookers had gathered as three men stood by the Sedan whose interior was covered in blood - especially the driver's seat and the floor just inside the driver's door - while security agents in dark glasses walked about. Shattered glass was strewn over the driver's seat and the floor.
A few minutes later, Directorate of Intelligence and Security Services (DISS) head, Isaac Kgosi, arrived on the scene. He studied the scene for a while as he spoke to his officers before speaking to the suspects. Moments later, a Botswana Police helicopter arrived and circled over the scene.
Before long, about six armed police officers arrived on the scene. One, apparently the officer in charge, spoke to Kgosi after which the DISS chief left. The three suspects were handcuffed and led into a police van. A police photographer then arrived and took pictures of the scene. The crowd of onlookers dispersed slowly as lunch hour came to the end.
Meanwhile, Kgosi has declined comment, indicating he was yet to get the full details of what happened as investigations were still underway. The Public Relations Officer of the Botswana Police Service, Assistant Commissioner Christopher Mbulawa, said he could not comment on the matter since he had not been briefed on it when Mmegi contacted him in the evening yesterday.
