BDP activist charged with stealing by public servant

FRANCISTOWN: A Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) activist in the Francistown West constituency was arraigned in court today to face three counts of stealing by person employed in the public service.

In the first count, the state alleges that Kago Phofuetsile, 43, who was vanquished by Ignatius Moswaane in the last BDP primary elections, stole P56,000 being government property on March 11, 2011 when he was employed by the National AIDS Coordinating Agency (NACA) as a District Grants Officer. 

The state alleges that the former NACA officer, who is now unemployed, stole P170,000 and P400,000 on June 6, 2011 and June 7, 2011 in the second and third counts respectively.
