Tsatsilebe to shun Gunners for Flamingoes

Tsatsilebe is committed to Falmingoes PIC: KEOAGILE BONANG
FRANCISTOWN:  National Under-20 coach, Rapelang ‘Razor’ Tsatsilebe has disclosed that he will soon link-up with ambitious First Division North side, Sua Flamingoes and not join Extension Gunners.

The former Gaborone United coach recently agreed to join Flamingoes, but has been heavily linked with the vacant Gunners job.  This week there was mounting speculation that Tsatsilebe is on the verge of concluding a deal with the Lobatse-based outfit.

Pontsho Moloi has been holding fort on an interim basis at Gunners. However, Tsatsilebe has clarified that his immediate future lies with Flamingoes. “It is true that I have been heavily linked with a vacant coaching role at Extension Gunners.  I recently met Gunners officials for talks but it was out of courtesy. I could not dismiss them outright, it would have been very unethical,” Tsatsilebe said this week.

“I have not yet officially signed with Flamingoes, but they are my first priority. They have shown so much desire to have me as their coach.

I will travel to Sowa Town after the President’s Day holidays to finalise my agreement with them. I have an assignment with the Under-20 national team, which is why I will go to Sowa after the holidays.”

Despite stating that he has not signed, reliable sources at Flamingoes said Tsatsilebe has already penned

a one-year deal, and was given the mandate of taking the team to the Premiership.

“He has already received his salary for May and June as well as his settlement allowance,” the source said.

Flamingoes chairperson, Rebagamang Sekgekge was not available for comment despite several attempts to contact him.

Tsatsilebe has already recommended players that the club should sign and those who should be released. Tsatsilebe is widely viewed as someone who has the right credentials to help the club gain promotion.

Promotion to the top league has eluded Flamingoes despite the club’s huge investment on players over the last three years. The club has also professionalised its set-up in a bid to effectively fight for promotion.

The team nearly won promotion to the top tier two seasons ago, but lost a two-legged promotion play-off to Prisons XI.
