Member of Parliament (MP) for Gaborone North, Haskins Nkaigwa appeared this morning before Village Magistrate’s Court objecting to voter trafficking.

Nkaigwa had filed numerous cases against voters on arguing that voters registered to vote in the upcoming general elections at Phakalane while using different residential plots such as Glen Valley barracks knowing well that the places were not their principal residences.

The MP who represented himself told Magistrate Mogi Paya that the voters are not residents in the places where they register therefore they are not eligible to

vote in Phakalane.

Magistrate Paya postponed the cases to different dates starting from June 21, 2019 to allow more evidence to be brought before court and to establish whether the voters have been trafficked.

She made several undertakings to help in the process of gathering information about the voters. This includes asking the barracks to help in providing information on those that said they reside there.
