SEROWE: Former president Ian Khama on Saturday finally announced his eminent exit from the ruling Botswana Democratic Party (BDP).

Khama was addressing a meeting in Serowe – BDP stronghold - where he is a paramount chief.  He said he has taken a decision to quit the party because of “harassment and bad leadership” from his predecessor President Mokgweetsi Masisi. 

“This party ya Domkrag I don’t recognize it anymore. Today kene ke tsile gole bolela gore nna ke kgaogana le Domkrag,” (I have come here today to inform you that I am quitting the BDP) said Khama before he threw off his BDP membership card to a rousing applause of hundreds that had attended the meeting.
