Although he is no longer signed under Vee Mampeezy’s Black Money Makers (BMM) Mingo Touch told Arts & Culture that the single is a build up to his upcoming album that will include his previous songs such as Somewhere.

“It’s been a while. With Saka Waya Waya I decided to take a few steps back to my style.

Even some of my fans still remember that Tshaba Tsotsi album,” he said. Mingo Touch said the song is categorised under soul music because it is slow and vibey.

He said they chose a fresh sound that is trending. “I choose to work with Motlha because he is a very talented guy. He has a golden voice therefore it was amazing to work with him. We created something different by merging our unique styles.” he highlighted.  Mingo Touch promised his fans that this year he is coming back to the music industry in full force.  “Music is a calling.  Even though I was going through a lot when I wanted to quit music (I realise now that) talent is God-given,” he highlighted. The song was produced by Names who produced Skavenja’s Monyopi.

Although he is an independent artist

Mingo Touch was quick to say that he is still working with BMM. “Vee Mampeezy is like a brother to us. He just wants us to be successful in this career,” he said.  Mingo Touch said he has not abandoned the housekwasa genre because he is a versatile artist.

Overall Saka Waya Waya is a vibey, chilled sound even suited for the weekend. It is a definite road trip tune and in the song.

In the song, Mingo Touch sounds more like South African rapper Kwesta of N’gud and Spirit fame. Although Mingo Touch’s kasi hardened gravel voice has always been his signature, in this one he shows that he can get inspiration from other musicians and try other sounds.

For someone who is familiar with Kwesta’s deep voice, one might confuse Saka Waya Waya for another one of the SA rapper’s songs. Mingo Touch’s song emits language of a good time, particularly a great night out imbibing.

Motlha’s sweet and melodic voice presents a contradictory merger and it makes the song an instant hit to any listener.

The combination of the two voices goes on to show that Batswana artists are indeed talented.
