Gov't reverses BOPEU transfers

Government has reversed recent transfers of four Botswana Public Employees Union (BOPEU) National Executive Committee (NEC) members. The decision comes just a month after the officials were put on transfer to different areas from the capital city.

The four NEC members, Letlhogile Ramaphane, Kaboyaone Sedimo, Ogaufi Masame and Zibani Philemon received transfer letters recently, at a time when the union leadership was embroiled in factional wars. It was also set to hold its NEC extra-ordinary meeting. 

The transfers meant that they could relinquish their positions as chairpersons of regions they represent, and subsequently lose seats in the union’s highest decision-making body, the NEC.
