Preparations for the Africa Karate Championship (UFAK), which Gaborone hosts this year, has been dealt a heavy blow after the Local Organising Committee (LOC) chairperson, Lebogang Gaobakwe quit last month.

Sources said Gaobakwe left after she did not receive her appointment letter from the Botswana National Sport Commission (BNSC). It is said other LOC members have also not received their letters.

The Minister of Youth Empowerment, Sport and Culture Development, Tshekedi Khama launched the LOC last month. Gaobakwe refused to divulge reasons for her resignation when contacted this week.
