BEC’s Caretaker Executive Secretary Professor Brian Mokopakgosi and a BEC team comprising Dorcus Morake, Susan Makgothi, Jenamiso Nthele, Dr Moreetsi Thobega and Canaan Mathendele said a total of 34,069 candidates had sat for the examinations, compared to 31,665 the previous year.
The number went up due to the introduction of back-to-school programmes, and the opening of a new school in Shakawe. The results 6,194 candidates in grades A* and A. Makgothi said that there was a 0.91 percent decline from the previous year, a decline she described as “insignificant.”
