Mmegi Online :: Postmortem results confirm Mulaladzi’s homicide

Dr Shatani Mugoma, a forensic pathologist who conducted Mulaladzi’s post-mortem, presented the results in court.

Nthoiwa Maxala, 36, is accused of the alleged shooting of Mulaladzi, who met his death in September 2015.

He is currently on trial for the murder of the former Physics teacher.

“After examining his body, I came to the conclusion that the cause of death was (the) multiple injuries. The liver and the heart were shattered. The vertebral column was also shattered,” 41-year-old Mugoma, who is the prosecution’s fourth witness, told court.

He added that Mulaladzi was shot at ‘close intermediate range’.

The trial continues in August where the state is expected to call more witnesses. The case is before Justice Matlhogonolo Phuthego.

Reneetswe Rabosotho is the attorney for the defence while Onneile Selawa represents the state. According details previously disclosed in court Maxala allegedly killed Mulaladzi at Somerset East location after they had initially fought at Borolong village near Francistown. The deceased was allegedly shot from behind and left to die without taking any measures to help him.  Maxala was initially charged with six other men.  Those charges were later dropped by the state.

Meanwhile, the Francistown Magistrate’s Court granted Akanyang Giri, who is accused of murder at Sekokwe settlement near Matshelagabedi, bail recently.  The

state alleges that on March 12, this year at Sekokwe settlements in Matshelagabedi, Giri, unlawfully caused the death of Diamogeleng Ntshekisang.

Prosecutor Chimbisani Sechele did oppose Giri’s bail.

“Investigations (in relation to Giri’s case) are almost complete. There is no way the accused can interfere with them,” Sechele said, adding that the accused should be granted conditional bail.

Magistrate Game Mooketsi granted Giri bail on the condition that he pays a sum of P1,000 and brings two sureties who will bind themselves with the same amount.

She further said: “The accused is to surrender his travelling documents to the Matshelagabedi Police station commander.  He is ordered not to interfere with the state witnesses. The accused is not supposed to commit any offence whilst on bail”.

Mooketsi also added that the accused is supposed to report at Matshelagabedi police station once a month, every month-end.

Giri will remain in custody only until he fulfills bail conditions.

According to the police source privy to the case, the deceased was too drunk and he kept on pestering the accused who at the time of the incident was sober. The accused then pushed him so hard that he hit his head when he fell down.  Ntshekisang reportedly died from the resultant injuries.
