Twist In Poaching Kingpin Case

FRANCISTOWN: The State will have a second bite out of a case involving an alleged poaching bigwig after the High Court granted the prosecution leave to file its appeal out of time.

The case involves Dumisani Moyo, a Zimbabwean allegedly found in unlawful possession of a rhino horn in Francistown in 2012.

The State made the application to be condoned to file its appeal out of time after the magistrate who is handling the matter barred the prosecution from producing the horn as part of its evidence during trial for non-compliance with case management rules.During the case management conference, the prosecution did not state if it would use the horn as part of its evidence.
