Zim woman gets five years for attempted infanticide

FRANCISTOWN: A 33-year- old Zimbabwean woman will serve time in prison for unlawfully attempting to cause the death to her newly born child.

Justice Bengbame Sechele sentenced Sinikiwe Ncube to five years imprisonment, of which three years was suspended for a period of three years on condition that she does not during the period, commit any offence of which violence to another person is involved. 

The State alleged that Ncube, who is an illegal immigrant, attempted to murder her newly born child on August 19, 2016 at or near Bobonong.
