Miss Botswana still to book top 30 spot

MOMPATI TLHANKANE
Even though Miss Botswana, Moitshepi Elias who is currently in Sonya, China for the Miss World 2018 will perform and represent Africa at the Dances of the world in the finals on December 8, she has not booked herself a spot yet in the final 30.

Categories like Top Model have been won by Miss France and it could have been Elias’s chance to book an automatic spot in the final 30.

The 118 girls strutted and twirled in an attempt to win the heart of the judges but only South Africa from Africa made it to the top five. Other categories that are still yet to be won are Beauty with a Purpose, Multimedia and Sports, Talent.

In an interview with Arts & Culture, Miss Botswana restructuring team leader, Basadi Masimolole said it was not yet guaranteed that Elias will be in the top 30, but it will certain as the voting for the head to head challenge closes on November 28.

“Although she will be on stage performing a dance from her native village Maun she is going to need Batswana’s votes,” she said.

Masimolole said prior to leaving to China, Elias perfected her dance with Mafitlhakgosi Traditional Troupe, no wonder she is confident about representing Africa. Masimolole said Batswana could vote for Elias as many times as they can.

Elias was drawn into Group 7 alongside Korea, Bahamas, Zimbabwe, Chile and Japan.
