Bonyongo retires, Milton takes over at Debswana

Balisi Bonyongo will retire as managing director of Debswana on November 30, with Jwaneng Mine general manager, Albert Milton taking over.

A statement from the diamond giant this afternoon indicates that Debswana’s shareholders have asked Bonyongo to stay on as a consultant for three months after his retirement “to ensure a smooth leadership transition”. 

Bonyongo has 26 years of service within Debswana and was appointed managing director on January 1, 2014. He is credited with the group’s strong performance across various business areas, including overseeing the multibillion Pula Cut 8 project, from where Jwaneng Mine is currently tapping diamonds.
