Gudu and Galetshabiwe were among high profile losers at the party primaries over the weekend.

There are reports that Gudu and Galetshabiwe intend to protest, as they were unhappy with certain aspects relating to the running of the primaries.

Matlhodi Modisapodi who joined the BPP from the ruling Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) a few months ago floored Galetshabiwe to represent Tati East. Gudu lost to former party spokesperson Tshepho Makhani who attracted 1055 votes with Gudu managing only 623 at Tati West.

“I have certain things that I was not happy about at the primaries but I cannot discuss them with the media. I cannot also confirm if I am protesting or not. My position regarding the outcomes of the primaries is privileged information that should only be known to the party and myself,” Galetshabiwe said.

Moments after the elections Gudu took to the social media to congratulate Makhani.

“This is not the right time for me to speak. I cannot say I am protesting or not. I will make a pronouncement at

the right time,” said Gudu.

Gudu has represented the BPP at the general elections in Tati West since 1999. He has lost in all occasions. He also contested and lost a council seat at the 1994 general elections.

Prior to the weekend primaries Gudu told a local newspaper that he has no intentions of representing the BPP at the general elections for the last time. Yesterday he said that he was still mapping out his next political move.

“At the moment I am not at liberty to discuss my next political move. This is not the right time for me to speak,” he said.

In recent times, the veteran politician has not enjoyed good relations with some key BPP figures.

Late last year he was suspended for attending an Umbrella for Democratic Change (UDC) meeting without the permission of the BPP leadership. His suspension was lifted in June this year after the party failed to subject him to a formal hearing.
